Yes, I am sick of firefox's little querks so I want to go back to I E but how do I go about this? I restored the i e settings but the page comes up and just says "open parent document button." It has 2 of those buttons but they don't do anything. Yikes!

Need more info. What screen reader are you using. All is needed to switch is to open internet explorer, then internet options on it, then go to programs and set it as default. Or just go to tools in firefox and uncheck the box onter options that says make it the default. You issue soulds different. Is you screen reader compatable with IE 8 if that is what you are using? Post more and you will get the answer.

If you're using a Jaws version lower than 10, I think you'll get that message because it's not compatible with IE 8. Then again, if you are, that's probably why you're having issues with Firefox as well. I didn't have any real success with Firefox until I upgraded to Jaws 10.

screaming_turtle is correct. Your IE version is newer than what your JFW version will handle. Use an earlier version of IE, or better yet, use NVDA or WindowEyes, *grin*

Still doesn't say what Jaws, so difficult to say, but both posters are correct. Try IE 7. You can find it at www.microsoft.com in the search box type it in download IE 7 or internet explorer 7. The only thing is you'll have to keep saying no when the updates want to switch you up to 8 again, so if so watch what you are installing from the updates.

How odd, I've had this same jaws and now all of a sudden I get minor issues.

Yes but what Jaws version? Say that and I'll have more ideas for you. Maybe it's not Jaws at all, but I'd like to know that.

it is 8.0

Then you'll have to remove internet explorer 8, allow your computer to go back to 6 or 7, then upgrade to 7 is your best bet. 8 doesn't work and if you are getting the message you are you have 8. Again watch the updates so you don't get 8 reinstalled after you fix it.

I don't think any version of JAWS earlier than 10 works with IE8, but I could be wrong?

No, it doesn't, and 8 definitely does not work with Firefox either.
